We designed our Simple and Simple Sweater with beginning knitters in mind. The pattern, in fact, is explained in great detail, and it only requires very basic knitting techniques: knitting, purling, increasing, and decreasing. Yet despite the simplicity of the skills needed, it produces a special garment! Knit with two strands of mohair held together with one strand of fingering-weight yarn, the Simple and Simple Sweater has a soft and fuzzy halo that gives the basic construction a sophisticated look, that can be nuanced by choosing yarns of different hues.
Simple and Simple Sweater is knit seamlessly in the round from the top down. You begin from the neck, and work the yoke with raglan increases. Sleeve stitches are then put on hold, and the body is completed. Lastly, you work one sleeve at a time in the round, from the held stitches down to the cuff. Simple and Simple Sweater has a classic, relaxed silhouette, with a high and close-fitting ribbed neckline, and deep, ribbed edges. Designed to hit the body at hip height, the length of the sweater can be easily modified to fit lower or higher on the body by working additional or fewer rounds before starting the ribbed edges.
