Our No Waste Wool is responsible, eco-friendly and ethically sourced
Our No Waste Wool is a sustainable yarn, blending together 50% recycled wool with 50% of our extrafine, traceable, non-mulesed Merino. The wool is Global Recycle Standard and Responsible Wool Standard certified, with the recycled wool a waste product from the production of other wool yarn. We collect the excess wool fibers, blend it with our merino wool and spin the wool blend into a new yarn. This way we use the wool fibers that would otherwise be wasted, and reduce waste in yarn productions. The 50% merino wool prevents the yarn from breaking easily, which is often the case with pure recycled yarn.
Meet Our ethical yarn
The Merino wool in our No Waste Wool is RWS certified. RWS is short for Responsible Wool Standard and the certification ensures that both animals, farmers and the environment is treated respectfully. The list of requirements to RWS certified wool is long. In short terms the certification protects the Five Freedoms of animal welfare, which mean freedom from hunger and thirst, freedom from discomfort, freedom from pain, injury and disease, freedom to express normal behaviour and freedom from fear and distress.
At the same time RWS farms protect soil health, biodiversity and native species and the RWS certification protects social welfare, working conditions and health safety of farmers and workers.
