Barbroe Blouse is a light, feminine and elegant lace blouse with an allover eyelet pattern, a keyhole opening in the back, set-in sleeves and a collar that is closed with three buttons in the back.
The blouse is worked from the bottom up. The body is worked in the round to the underarms where work is divided into front and back, and each piece subsequently shaped and finished separately while working back and forth. Sleeves are worked from the bottom up, mostly in the round, and sewed in as the final step using mattress stitch.
The Barbroe stitch pattern is a simple charted lace pattern that is easy to follow. If you find it helpful, you can place a marker between each chart repeat to make it easier to keep track of where you are.
Barbroe Blouse is intended to be fitted and is therefore designed with negative ease. To choose the correct size, look at the ‘to fit chest circumference’ measurements on the previous page. If your actual chest circumference is, say, 98 cm [38½”], you should choose to knit a size 3 in order to achieve the intended fit.
